EASTRINGTON  SHOW

The Hundredth Show

20th June saw the village put on its one hundredth show.  It was a roaring success.

The Show is organised by the village for the village.  It is organised by a 30+ strong committee which meets
once a month throughout the year.  Many more people lend a hand on the day, to make sure everything happens
as planned and other individuals and companies lend a much needed hand in the shape of sponsorship.

The aim for 2009 was to celebrate the Hundredth Show and make it a day to remember.  And the feedback on the
day and after indicates that the Committee succeeded and gave all the previous shows a run for their money.
We can indeed claim that 2009 was one of the very best.

There was a real buzz about the place with more entries than usual in most classes.  The showground was full of
activity by the arrival of the vintage vehicles, with an improved mix of trade and community stands making
for a real agricultural village atmosphere.

The brass band entertained the crowds which weren’t dampened by the showery weather and when the band
wasn’t playing, Chainsaw Mick was revving-up for more heavy duty sculpting.  But it takes more than the noise
of chainsaws, passing trains and dare devil stunt plane displays to put off the show jumpers and there were
healthy entries in the shire horse, cattle and sheep classes too.

Competitors in the fancy dress and children’s sports all received a commemorative 100th Eastrington Show medal
but the dads’ race and tug of war were more about pride than silverware.

It was a great day for the village and we look forward to doing the same next year and the year after that.
